Village, according to Law No. 6 of 2014¬†(Village Law), is a community that has¬†the authority to regulate its own affairs¬†based on the function of self-governing¬†community. Based on this concept, the¬†implementation of the government at the village¬†level is done independently by the village community.¬†The full authority for self-government¬†opens the opportunity for the Village Government¬†(Pemdes) to implement the authority in a¬†unilateral basis. As a control mechanism, to anticipate¬†this, the Village Law has been equipped¬†with norms governing village democracy, which¬†guarantee the villagers to be involved ‚Äď both¬†directly and through representatives ‚Äď in the village¬†governance. The following are several issues¬†related to village democracy as stipulated by the¬†Village Law.
