Some time ago, we invited various groups of people to take part in a call for paper with the theme “Three Years After Ratification of the International Covenant on Eco-Social and Social Security Rights (2006-2008): Situation of Fulfillment and Mainstreaming Agenda of Social and Social Security in the Development System in Indonesia”. This activity is an enrichment of our previous activities, namely research on the right to education and the right to health which is part of the program “Citizens’ Capacity Building, Legislative Members and Regional Executives for the Implementation of Social, Social, and Social Security Rights”. This program was implemented by PATTIRO during the 2007-2011 period, in collaboration with NZAID.
There are five types of social and economic rights (economic, social and cultural) that we offer as the theme of our writing, namely: the right to education, the right to health, the right to work, the right to the environment and the right to food. The organizations we invite to participate are NGOs, universities, research institutes, the press and mass organizations. While the individuals who were invited were: practitioners, activists or observers of problems Human rights, economic, social and culture in Indonesia. From this activity, we hope to write papers that provide a rational picture of the portrait of fulfilling Social and Social Security rights in Indonesia and the systems/policies that have been made by the government to fulfill these rights.
All the candidates (59 institutions) who submitted concept notes, three candidates were finally selected to present the right to food, the right to food health and environmental rights. However, until the final stage, there were only two presenters who we judged to have successfully completed their writing according to committee standards, namely Tri Lindawati from CAPS UGM who wrote about the right to food and Hasrul Hanif (together with Dati Fatimah) from the Department of Government Science, Faculty of Social Sciences UGM who wrote about the right to health. Furthermore, since no candidate was selected to write a right to education report, we invited one of the authors to write it down, namely Markus Christian from BIGS Bandung (with Ilham Cendekia Srimarga).
As we stated at the beginning, accompanying the reporting and publication of research reports on the right to education and the right to health, we also present the report book “The Situation of Fulfillment and the Mainstreaming Agenda of Social and Social Security in the Development System in Indonesia”. This report book contains writings on the right to food, the right to health, and right to education.
Thank you to all parties who have contributed so that this report book exists. Especially for the author. May be useful.
