Nine Indonesian Think Tanks Recognized by the World: CSIS, SMERU, ICW, and PATTIRO

Berita Baru, Internasional – The Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania developed an initiative called the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) to assess the performance of policy research institutions around the world.

Since 2010, the assessment has produced a global index of think tanks, involving hundreds of panelists from around the world. Over 44,992 people and institutions were involved in the index assessment process from April – December 2020.

Their latest report is called the 2020 Global Go To Think Tank Index (GGTTI), and was released on January 30, 2021 in New York and 100 other cities around the world simultaneously.

Director of TTCPS James G. McGann expressed his deep appreciation for the support provided by more than 11,000 think tanks, as well as 3,974 academics, journalists, policymakers, scholars, think tank executives, and donors.

The 2020 GGTTI provides rankings based on three major category groups, namely by region (8 sub-categories), by research focus (15 sub-categories), and by special achievement (20 sub-categories).

There are 37 Think Tank institutions from Indonesia that were assessed in the 2020 GGTTI. 9 institutions received rankings from various sub-categories.

They are the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) received 5 sub-categories, the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) received 9 sub-categories, and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) each received 2 sub-categories.

The Institute of National Capacity Studies (INCS), Center for Indonesian Policy Studies (CIPS), SMERU Research Institute, PATTIRO and Kemitraan each received 1 sub-category.
